Lomi Lomi
This luxurious treatment is a Hawaiian form of massage from the tradition of the Ho’oponopono, which is healing through forgiveness. The word literally translates as “to make right”. Ho’o means “to make”, and pono “right”, the double use of pono means with both yourself and others. This specialty treatment starts with a small ritual to set the space, and helps with restoring harmony within the self and with others.
The underpinnings of the tradition is the belief that we are all connected, and that the way we inhabit our own selves can affect our relationships with others.
The treatment itself is a relaxation massage that is designed to make the client feel more integrated and whole. You can expect a full body massage using long, sweeping strokes made with the undersides of the forearms that can travel from upper to lower body, or even under the body at times. Though always covered, the client may have both an arm and a leg of one whole side of the body uncovered at once Because it uses a fair amount of oil, please come prepared wearing small undergarments to allow fluid access to your limbs and torso, and prevent oil from getting on your clothes. Belly massage can be incorporated upon request.
*This is a general, full body relaxation massage that is conducted without talking. If you are looking for deep tissue, or a massage that has a more specific focus, please book a registered massage appointment or regular non-registered massage appointment.
Reflexology (foot)
Reflexology is not a foot massage, but an alternative medicine practice from the traditional Chinese medicine system involving application of pressure to specific points on the feet, (and sometimes hands and face). It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body on the feet (and hands), with the premise that such work causes a physical change to the related areas of the body. Based on the concept that life force energy (qi - pronounced “chee”) can be hindered due to imbalances in various organs or systems of the body, reflexology uses gentle pressure on these points to remove blockages and promote the flow of this vital energy.
The treatment is done using thumb, finger, and hand massage techniques, and can be effective in treating headaches, sinus problems, and stomach issues, as well as helping to restore the flow of energy throughout the body and calming the nervous system. It may also help to cleanse the body of toxins, boost the immune system, increase circulation, and promote healing by balancing the energy in the body.
Reflexology can be booked as an add-on to an existing appointment, or as a stand-alone treatment.
